The original Little York Fire Department patch was created in 1977 by members Wes Cole and Ronnie Smith.  After researching different patches across the country, and taking bits and pieces from each patch they came across they came up with this one.  Its shape came from a design in Massachusetts, while our slogan "That Others May Live" was from a patch from Pennsylvania.   The center reflects the Maltese Cross, which is the symbol of honor and protection with the date the department was established in 1942. After the design was completed by the two members, it was taken to membership and passed unanimously.  This patch has been in circulation ever since.

In 2006 Little York again looked at different patches to create a new patch for the department.  The original design was created by David Griffin using a combination of the Fire Department of New York, Houston Fire Department, and the existing Little York Fire Department patches.  The design was submitted to the membership for consideration and with the membership input, a new patch was created and accepted by the membership.
